MCCG undertakes weed reduction with a focus on primary and secondary weeds to maintain biodiversity of the natural coastal vegetation. Our priority target weeds are listed as ‘Weeds of National Significance’ by the Federal Government. These weeds can prevent the natural regeneration of our coastal scrublands and littoral rainforests.  The top priority weeds are Bitou Bush Chrysanthemoides monilifera and Ground Asparagus Asparagus aethiopicus, Climbing Asparagus Asparagus plumosus, and Bridal Creeper Myrsiphyllum asparagoides.

Secondary weed targets include Willow Wattle Acacia saligna, Cassia Senna floribunda, Prickly Pear Opuntia spp., Glory Lily Gloriosa superba, Morning Glories Ipomea spp., Moth Vine Araujia hortorum, Madiera Vine Anredera cordifolia,  Brazilian Nightshade Solanum seaforthianum, and Spike Rush Juncus acutus.
